The Forged Flare Story
Scaling Operations
Growing a Handrafted Business Without Losing What Made It Special
As Forged Flare® grew, the challenge wasn't simply making more products. I had to figure out how to increase capacity while maintaining the quality, consistency, and personal experience customers expected from a small handcrafted brand.
I developed and managed the processes behind production, inventory, vendors, forecasting, fulfillment, and customer service — continually adapting how we worked as demand, product lines, and sales channels grew.

Growing Beyond Two People
Forged Flare® began as a husband-and-wife operation, but growth eventually required more hands. I developed repeatable production processes, documented how products were made and finished, and brought in local help during periods of increased demand while maintaining our quality standards.

Planning for Demand
A growing catalog and seasonal business meant constantly balancing materials, inventory, production capacity, and customer demand. I used sales history, inventory levels, seasonal trends, and upcoming promotions to help determine what we needed to make, when we needed to make it, and where resources should be focused.
This became especially important during the holiday season, when production and fulfillment had to scale quickly without overproducing inventory that might not sell.

I also used small and limited-edition production runs to test new ideas, including designs that moved beyond our established Mother’s Angels® collection. These smaller runs gave us room to experiment with different products and creative directions, gauge customer interest, and learn what was worth developing further without committing to large amounts of inventory.

Getting Orders Out the Door
Making the product was only part of the operation. I also developed the workflows behind order processing, packaging, shipping, tracking, and customer communication so orders could move efficiently from purchase through delivery.
As order volume increased, I continually looked for ways to reduce manual work, prevent errors, and keep customers informed — particularly during high-volume periods when both production and shipping timelines mattered most.
Scaling Without Losing the Experience
Growth only mattered if we could do it without losing the things that made Forged Flare® different in the first place. As the business evolved, I continually balanced efficiency with craftsmanship — building processes that allowed us to produce and fulfill more while protecting the quality of the products and the experience behind them.
