This is actually an illustration of our special needs cat, Kahlua. We adopted her from Second Chance for Strays Inc. in Clearwater, Florida a few months after our move from Tennessee to Florida in 2004. We adopted her when she was a few months old. Poor little girl came into the shelter with a badly infected eye from a woman who refused to get her cats spayed and neutered. She constantly brought in litter after litter of kittens. Such a sad story. However, Second Chance for Strays was able to save her life, remove her infected eye, and now she lives a happy life with us. If you live in the Florida area, I highly recommend them as a place to adopt from. Such a great organization.
At the time of this painting, she was 9 years old. She is such a beautiful cat and has so many variations of color in her fur that I wanted to try and capture that beauty in one of my paintings.
